DISASTER STRIKES LYONDON STATE
Our final project will cover the disaster that is going to hit lyndon on friday. We will cover it as if the disaster is real in the form of a newscast. We will incorporate video and pictures. Maybe even a google map if we can figure out how to do it well enough.

How to study write up
How do Lyndon State College students prepare for finals? Our footage captures both the lazy and the over zealous students as they get ready for exams.
The answers you would typically expect from students would be study, getting plenty of sleep, making note cards etc. The students we interviewed took preparing for exams to the extremes. Some students just try cramming the night before the exam, to make sure that they can remember the most important information; other students like to prepare the entire week before the exam. One student described waking up early every day to study, and spend the whole day studying only breaking for classes and food. Each student seems to know exactly what works for them. But then you get the clowns that don’t really prepare for the exams at all they like to sleep a lot, eat "healthy food" such as McDonald's and then drink lots of "water" the night before.
In one scene, you have a girl, Jill Rancourt, and she's frantically studying, searching through her books and comparing notes to the periodic table she looks as though she might have a nervous break down. In another scene, you have a guy, Jake Davis, who appears to be completely at ease like he's not worried in the least bit about exams. He's playing video games, sleeping on his futon and then wakes up to find a rather tasty looking burger on his stomach; later on he is seen with a case of beer.
No matter what you do to get ready for finals, I hope that you have fun and do well.

Newspaper sites
The first site I looked at was USA Today. This had a very easy layout and it was no problem to find what you were looking for. The video section reminded me a lot of CNN because of the simplicity of the layout. You could find videos that go with what you are interested in with the simple click of the mouse.
The second site I looked at was the LA Times. This did not have a very good video section. I had to scroll down the entire home page just to find it. It didn't even have a whole video section, it was just small player on the home page. As far as I could tell, there was not a way to find the most popular videos. Overall this was hard to find what you wanted to watch.

iReport
iReport.com was a great site. The name plays on the whole ipod fad which might attract more people. But the whole idea behind it is great. News reporters cant always be there when an event happens and this helps people tell whats happening around the world. I found all of the stories I looked at to be very interesting.
ireport was a great sight and I congratulate the inventor. My only negative feed back would be that I have never heard of it. Maybe do some more advertising.

Podcasts
The first podcast I'm reviewing is the CBC radio 3 podcast. I have been following this show for a long time, ever since it was on the radio. About five years ago they took this show off the radio and now they only do the podcast. Hosted by Grant Lawrence it has a huge variety of mostly Canadian rock. What I like most about this is that they have bands that most people have never heard of. The shows are hit or miss sometimes, but most the time they are very enjoyable for someone who likes a variety of music.
The next podcast is one the I used to watch a lot during my flight school. The Aeronautical university of north dakota put out a podcast for a few years that helps private pilots in training. These podcasts cover a wide variety of topics from tail strikes to radio communications. These podcasts were poor quality in the beginning but increased as the shows went on. This is a very good video podcast for the training pilot or even good as a refresher for a current pilot.
The final podcast I watched was the ESPNU College basketball. Its pretty much listening to ESPN except only college basketball. If you enjoy college basketball this is definitely a podcast for you.

Lyndon State Decreases Tuition
Blurb: Students get more cash in their pocket next year.
Harold R. Drazsnzak, the vice president for finance, made this announcement today in the new auditorium ASAC 100, and said that decrease is possible because of increased revenues from the state.
This was the fist tuition decrease at Lyndon State. Drazsnazak said, "Without a doubt, this decrease is long overdue for our students"
First Vermont Bank robbed
Blurb: Miss Vermont arrested for suspected bank robbery.
The First Vermont Bank was robbed yesterday by a masked individual, and police are not releasing how much money was stolen.
Benson is the daughter of locally prominent attorney Jim Bensen who lives in Lyndon. She also has been planning to attend Dartmouth for medical school.
Big screen, big cost
Blurb: Unknown vandals damage the big screen TV that hangs on the wall in the twilight theatre lobby beyond repair.
Body:
The television that hangs in the twilight theatre was vandalized at some point between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on January 18.
The television looks as if it was stabbed with a sharp object or even punched. THe monitor is currently turned off with a large sign on it describing what happened.
This vandalism will cost the school $3,000 to replace, even though the TV was originally partially funded by gifts from private donors. The school does have an insurance policy for events such as this, but the TV is not covered because it is under $5,000.
This event has triggered debate across campus about more security and possibly the installation of cameras. The public safety office has also been short handed recently dude to the deployment of public safety officer Charle Forrest.
Public safety asks that anyone with information contact them at 802-626-6452.

Pimp My Blog
The theme of my blog was simplicity. Most of the gadgets I just find annoying, and they distract from the actual content of the blog. I posted a lot of information on the F-16 and how cool of a jet it is.
My Jets
Here are my two jets: 83-1165 and 86-0289. 83-1165 was the first F-16c to pass 7000 flight hours. When the F-16c was manufactured it was only supposed to fly for around 3000 flight hours. 83-1165 is no longer flying.

NSN sports net review
Review of http://nsnsports.net:
This website seemed to have lots of content at first. There was lots of content covering the northeast kingdom. The video feature is a great idea and they should receive many hits just for that. I almost feel like there was too much content on the home page. I wasn't sure where to go.
Once I started digging I found lots of dead links, and links that lead to absolutely nothing. This is probably because the site seems like it is fairly new and under development still.
Some possible changes or additions is the idea of having stats for high school players. Another idea is featuring an athlete of the week, much like the burlington free press does.
Overall I feel that this site has lots of potential to be the top high school sports site of vermont. They just may need to expand there coverage.
